After completing school, I began a traineeship as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse. As much as I enjoyed being a nurse and found my career personally fulfilling and rewarding, in my 10th year as a rehabilitation nurse, I realised I was in need of a career change. I was always passionate about the natural world therefore, a career in zoology seemed fitting. I took the daunting leap of faith and enrolled at university and have not looked back.

In 2019, I obtained a bachelor of zoology, majoring in ecology at the University of New England, Armidale. Since then, I have had the opportunities working as a zoo keeper and as a wildlife educator for a mobile invertebrate zoo, educating school children on invertebrate diversity and ecology. I have also worked for a company providing education and advice regarding snakes and snake safety.

In a more recent role, I have consulted, providing advice and assistance in trapping the invasive red-eared slider turtle. Currently I am undertaking a masters of research in ethnoherpetology at the University of New England in the school of environmental and rural science assessing public attitudes towards Australian snakes and frogs.
